Individual Sessions
Trauma Recovery Sessions
These two modalities are the "heavy lifters" of the trauma work at Roots Healing. They move beyond traditional talk therapy by working directly with how your brain and nervous system store painful experiences.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
What it is: ART is a cutting-edge, evidence-based therapy that uses gentle, guided eye movements—similar to those used in EMDR—to help the brain "re-program" how it stores traumatic images and sensations. The core philosophy of ART is: "Keep the knowledge, lose the pain." What to expect: Unlike traditional therapy, ART is highly visual. You will not be required to talk in detail about your trauma if you don’t want to. Instead, I will guide you through a structured process of visualization and voluntary image replacement, allowing your brain to shift a "distressing" memory into a "neutral" one. Who it helps: Individuals struggling with PTSD, phobias, acute grief, panic attacks, or intrusive "flashback" memories. The Benefits: The most significant benefit is speed; ART often achieves in 1 to 5 sessions what traditional talk therapy can take months to accomplish. It provides rapid relief from the physical "sting" of a memory without the risk of re-traumatization.
Critical Memory Integration (CMI)
What it is: CMI is a comprehensive, neurobiologically-informed approach that focuses on the "stuck" memories that form the foundation of our negative core beliefs. It bridges the gap between the brain’s "hardware" and the soul’s experience by helping you integrate memories that have been fragmented by complex trauma. What to expect: In a CMI session, we look at the "Critical Memories" that still carry a high emotional or somatic (physical) charge. We work to move these memories from the reactive, "alarm-center" of the brain into long-term narrative memory. We focus heavily on the emotional energy centers of the body, ensuring that the "charge" of the past is physically released. Who it helps: Those with Complex Trauma (C-PTSD), deep-seated generational patterns, or "vessel" exhaustion in clinicians. It is for the person who feels like their past is constantly "bleeding" into their present. The Benefits: CMI leads to profound internal harmony. The primary benefit is a sense of "wholeness"—the past finally feels like it is actually in the past. This clears the "weeds" of old foundational beliefs, making room for your authentic self to grow without the constant interference of old triggers.
Brain Health Coaching
What it is: Brain Health Coaching is a biological deep-dive into the physical "hardware" of your mind. As a Certified Brain Health Professional through the Amen Clinics, I believe that you cannot have a healthy mind without a healthy brain. This service moves beyond traditional labels to look at the underlying brain systems—such as the prefrontal cortex, the anterior cingulate, and the limbic system—that drive your behavior, mood, and focus.
What to expect: During these sessions, we conduct a comprehensive audit of your "Four Circles of Wellness": Biological, Psychological, Social, and Spiritual. We go far beyond a standard diagnosis to identify your specific Brain Subtype. You will receive a detailed overview of your brain systems and how they correlate to your symptoms. Together, we will perform a thorough review of your current medications and supplements, followed by a customized roadmap for lifestyle changes, brain-healthy nutrition, and targeted "brain-rehab" exercises designed to optimize your cognitive function.
Who it helps: This is for the person who feels "stuck" despite years of therapy, those struggling with brain fog, ADHD, anxiety, or treatment-resistant depression, and anyone wanting to protect their brain against generational cognitive decline. It is also an essential track for clinicians who want to optimize their own brain health to prevent burnout and "compassion fatigue."
The Benefits: The primary benefit of Brain Health Coaching is precision. Instead of the "trial and error" approach to mental health, we use a data-driven framework to understand why your brain works the way it does. You will gain a clear, actionable plan to improve your sleep, energy, and emotional stability. By optimizing your biological "soil," you make the deep psychological work of therapy significantly easier and more effective.
Psycho-Spiritual Therapy
What it is: Psych-Spiritual therapy is the "Top-Down" exploration of the soul’s architecture. While Brain Health addresses the hardware, this work addresses the "software"—the unconscious beliefs, spiritual scripts, and hidden parts of the self that define how you move through the world. Rooted in psychodynamic theory and Jungian concepts, this approach bridges the gap between clinical psychology and the human search for meaning. We don’t just look at what you do; we look at the Shadow (the parts of yourself you’ve hidden or denied) and the Persona (the mask you wear for the world) to bring you into a state of Harmony.
What to expect: These sessions are an invitation to go deep. We utilize tools like Shadow Work, personality development pathways (including the Enneagram), and "Wholehearted Integration" exercises. You can expect a space that honors your spiritual history while allowing for safe faith exploration and deconstruction. We identify the "weeds" of generational patterns and replace them with a life rooted in Authenticity. This is not "Therapy Lite"—it is a rigorous, compassionate inquiry into who you are when the world isn't looking and what you were meant to become.
Who it helps: This is for the seeker. It is for those experiencing a "dark night of the soul," individuals navigating faith transitions or deconstruction, and those who feel a persistent "hollowness" despite having a healthy life. It is especially vital for therapists and healers through our Vessel Healing track, providing a sanctuary to explore the "Shadow of the Healer" and reconnect with their original sense of calling.
The Benefits: The primary benefit of Psych-Spiritual work is alignment. You will move away from the exhaustion of "performing" and toward a life of value-based living. Benefits include a deepened sense of purpose, the resolution of spiritual shame, and the integration of your "Shadow" into a source of strength rather than a source of fear. By tending to these roots, you achieve a level of internal peace that symptom management alone cannot provide.
