About Roots Healing: Meet Leah

I am a psychodynamic therapist specializing in complex trauma, neurodevelopment, and the deep structure of personality. My clinical approach integrates psychoanalysis, shadow work, the Personality Development Pathways framework, and spiritual healing to help clients uncover core patterns, resolve inner conflict, and reconnect with their authentic self.

I am certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Critical Memory Integration Therapy, and am a Certified Brain Health Professional & Coach through Amen Clinics. These evidence-based and neuroscience-informed modalities allow me to support clients in healing stuck memories, reorganizing emotional processing, and restoring nervous system balance.

Rooted in a lifelong passion for child development and attachment, I work with individuals across the lifespan, helping them understand how early relational experiences shape identity, resilience, and present-day relationships. I also work with couples using the Gottman Method, guiding partners toward deeper emotional connection, trust, and shared meaning.

My goal is to create a therapeutic space that is insightful, grounded, and transformative—where clients can safely explore their inner world and develop the psychological and spiritual tools needed for lasting change.

Deep Dive

  • At Roots Healing, we don’t just treat symptoms; we treat the whole ecosystem of the person. Most traditional therapy stays at the "surface level"—talking about the problem without addressing the source. My approach is different. I combine the precision of neuroscience with the depth of psychodynamic soul-work to ensure that healing isn't just a temporary relief, but a permanent change in your "soil."

Here is how we work together:

    1. Tending to the Hardware (The Brain)

Healing requires a resilient nervous system. As a Certified Brain Health Professional, I look at the biological foundations of your mental health. We move beyond labels to understand your specific brain subtype. By looking at nutrition, lifestyle, and physiological risk factors, we ensure your "biological soil" is rich and capable of supporting new growth. We don't just ask what is wrong; we ask how we can optimize your brain's health to make healing possible.

    2. Clearing the Overgrowth (Trauma & The Nervous System)

When complex trauma is stored in the body, it acts like a weed that chokes out your present life. Using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Critical Memory Integration (CMI), we do "bottom-up" work. These advanced modalities allow us to re-process traumatic memories so they no longer trigger a fight-or-flight response. We clear the "emotional energy centers" of the body, allowing you to finally feel safe in your own skin.

    3. Digging to the Deep Roots (Psychodynamic & Shadow Work)

Once the nervous system is regulated, we go deep. We explore the foundational beliefs and generational patterns that were instilled in you long ago. Through Shadow Work and Personality Development, we uncover the parts of yourself that have been hidden or suppressed. This is where we bridge the clinical with the spiritual—discovering your values, deconstructing old faiths or scripts, and integrating every part of your story into a state of Harmony.

    4. The "Clinician to Clinician" Specialty

I believe that the "vessel" of the therapist must be clear to be effective. My approach for my peers is an Advanced Psychodynamic Model. We move past the basics of self-care and dive into the "Self-of-the-Therapist" work. We process the countertransference and vicarious trauma that come with this calling, ensuring you can be present for your clients without your own "roots" getting in the way.

    The Goal: Integrated Harmony

Whether we are working through the Gottman Method for your relationship or a Shadow Work Intensive for your soul, the goal is Wholehearted Integration. We want to move you from a state of "surviving" your history to a state of thriving in your Authenticity.

  • In a world of "performative" wellness, Roots Healing is built on two non-negotiable foundations. These aren't just personal beliefs; they are the clinical compass for every session, workbook, and intensive I offer.

    1. Authenticity: The Courage to be Seen

Healing cannot happen in a mask. Authenticity is the process of aligning your internal world with your external life. In our work—especially through Shadow Work and Vessel Healing—we practice radical honesty. I provide a space where it is safe to drop the "perfect" persona (whether that’s the "perfect parent," the "perfect partner," or the "perfect therapist") to discover who you are when you are no longer performing. We work to ensure that your "Yes" is a real yes, and your boundaries are a reflection of your true self.

    2. Harmony: The Art of Integration

Harmony is not the absence of conflict; it is the integration of all parts. When your brain health is at odds with your lifestyle, or your spiritual values are at odds with your trauma history, you feel "discord." My approach seeks to bring the Biological, Psychological, Social, and Spiritual circles of your life into a resonant chord. Whether we are using ART to calm a reactive nervous system or the Gottman Method to repair a relationship, the goal is always the same: to move you out of internal static and into a state of physiological and soulful harmony.

  • Healing as a Lifelong Calling

I often joke that I’ve been a therapist since I was ten years old. Even as a child, I had a heart that gravitated toward the deep, the quiet, and the complex. But my path to founding Roots Healing wasn’t just born from a natural curiosity—it was born from my own lived experience.

Finding the Science, Losing the Stigma

For a long time, I struggled with my own mental health in silence. I felt profoundly alone, carrying the weight of my experiences while navigating the heavy stigma that often surrounds mental health. I felt "held back" by my own mind, unsure if there was a way to move through the fog.

Everything changed when I discovered the science behind the symptoms. Learning that my experiences weren't a personal failure, but a physiological and psychological response that others shared, was life-altering. That knowledge was the sun that allowed me to grow; it gave me the permission to step out of the shadows of shame and into a life of purpose. For me, the act of healing others has become a profound form of healing for myself.

From Residential Care to Deep Root Work

My clinical journey led me to work with women in residential settings, where I sat with some of the deepest forms of complex trauma. We worked through the "foundation beliefs" instilled in childhood—beliefs often passed down through generations of trauma.

It was there that I refined my philosophy: If we do not uncover the roots, they inevitably turn into weeds. These weeds don’t just sit there; they actively disrupt our authentic selves, choking out our potential for growth and preventing us from reaching a true state of harmony.

    Always Tending the Garden

My passion for this work doesn't end when the office door closes. I am a lifelong student of the human experience. In my free time, you will almost always find me reading and researching, fueling my fascination with the "soul-work" that is so intricately intertwined with our biological roots.

I do this work because I believe that no one should have to feel alone in their struggle. I do it because I know that when we tend to the soil, the soul finally has the room it needs to bloom.
